Discovery

Ominous clouds gather,
spitting RAIN.
Puddles dot my PATH
like WILDFLOWERS
reflecting a RAINBOW
of colorful umbrellas
as I walk shivering
on New York STREETS
wishing for a cab,
wondering why
I didn't bother with BOOTS.
as the deluge continues,
stinging like BEES.
I seek shelter
of a cluster of spindly TREES
only to stumble upon
a quaint store
selling rare and use BOOKS.
I step inside, water cascading
to find warmth in a smile
and beauty beneath worn covers

add-a-line Changing seasons

Autumn's splendor conceals the approach of winter's icy fingers
But spring awakens all, and we'll bask in beauty as summer lingers.

Seasonal Poem Fall

                AUTUMN SPLENDOR

                   The grove is arrayed
                   in glorious robes
                   of crimson and gold
                   dazzling in the afternoon light.

                   Cottony white clouds dance
                   across a cerulean sky.
                   Squirrels chatter boisterously
                   wary of my approach.

                   A downy woodpecker
hitches up a tree half overgrown
                   with Morning Glory vines,
                  feasting greedily.

                  One tree stands bare,
                  gnarled limbs twisted around
                  as if a woman, naked,
                  trying to conceal herself.

                 Autumn winds whispers
                 secretively, chilling my ears
                 arousing faded memories
                 and I feel insignificant.
