May  2005

 Our Theme Assignment for May 2005 was to write an original
 poem reflecting our interpretations of the picture below.

Serenity Awakened

Azure skies reflect in the blue water;
Ripples dance and churn forgotten memories.
Leaf shadows waltz across my face
Awakening my soul with song.
Stir a longing for the pastoral hills of youth
When the tapestries of life were intricately woven
With gossamer threads of beauty;
Unbroken by frayed strings of regrets
And threadbare patches of dreams.
Briefly worries cascade and hope returns.

Mini 1

If I had a pet, I think
I’d have a potbelly pig
He’d have the best table scraps
and grow to be so big.

If I had a pet, I think
I’d have a lamb so sweet
I’d dress her up in bows of pink
and make her bed with a satin sheet

Mini 2
Here's our second mini assignment for May. . .a little exercise for making
our writing more descriptive. Choose ONE of the lines below and rewrite it
to be much more colorful and descriptive and full of feeling. . .you may
rewrite it as a single sentence, or as a 2-line rhyme if you prefer.

4. There were trees and flowers in the park.
4. Fruit and wildflowers grew rampant,
the grove seemed untouched by any inhabitants.

5. I felt sad when I heard the news.
5. I was wracked with grief, when I comprehended the confession.

6. The dog ran down the hill.
6. The rabid canine raced
up the steep incline at an incredible pace.
