There once was a man who was notorious
                     for pulling pranks that were uproarious.
                     He gave not a thought
                     to those he unwrought;
                     till on him some jokester was victorious

                     There was a young blond from Ravenna
                     who washed her golden curls in henna.
                     So eager to make her hair glisten
                     to her mother would not listen.
                     Now her both her hair and skin are sienna.

                      There is a fine poet named Cheri
                      who has quite an expansive vocabulary
                      She tries to make writers of all of us
                      and sometimes the results are quite humorous
                      but kind words from her are customary.

Sunday Ritual

Like six little ducklings in a row, we entered the church
A quick dab in the holy water and an imitation of the cross.
One after another genuflected and slid down the pew.
We listened as the sermon droned on about stuff we didn't understand.
With reverence we walked, hands folded to accepted communion.
We squirmed in our seats and kicked each others' shins;
Began to poke and whisper, the solemnitude worn off.
With the last Amen, we bolted for the door leaving God behind.

Grateful grandfather greedily gobbles gallons of gizzard 
gravy after grace.

Placid pilgrims pile plates with plentiful pumpkin pie and 
plum pudding.

During dinner dauntless David danced diligently in the dinette and then devoured delicious dumplings drizzled with delectable dressing.
