Poetry
Nook
Include
the following line,
somewhere in a poem or
story
(250word max): rouged coals languish
We
talk and laugh as the
candles melt
Enjoying one another's
company
Fire crackles and flames
dance with shadows
We lean our heads
together resting in the
glow
Smiling, while quietly
holding hands
the rouged coals
languish long after
midnight
and in the dim light
loves first kiss is
exchanged

Whimsy Nook
EVENING
SYMPHONY
A frog sings beneath
the window
where I hug a pillow
resting on the sill.
I catch a breath
of the damp night air
as the overture
heightens.
Night birds trill
their flutes
while the drum of a
truck
rumbles past and is
gone.
A brief intermission
and the concert
resumes
with baying dogs
trumpeting their fury,
tapering to soft muted
tones.
The gentle violins
of rustling leaves
join the crescendo of
locusts;
fading quietly,
leaving only
the tranquil whispers
of the grass.

March WOSIB Literary
were to create their
own original poem
beginning with the
first line of,
"Now Close the
Windows" by
Robert Frost:
Now close all the
windows and hush all
the fields
Rededication
Now close the
windows and hush all
the fields
Bow your head and bend
your knee
Now close you eyes and
still your thoughts
Open your heart and
lift up your praise
Give thanks for this
wonderful world
Give thanks for all
you have received
Now open up the Word
of God and read
Listen for his voice,
embrace his message
Pray for his direction
and guidance
Turn from chaos and
worldly constraints
Free yourself of pride
Come humbly before
your Lord
Now open up to your
potential
and use the gifts
received from God
Now open the windows
to your heart
Walk the fields and
spread his love
