WOSIB
OCTOBER POETRY THEME

Take the last line of Dylan Thomas', "Do not go gentle into that good night"
and write your own poem. You should begin your poem with:
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.  Maximum of 20 lines or 200 words

Murder Charge

Rage, rage against the dying of the light
but your rage will fall on deaf ears
Eternity lost to you who would not bend.
As the heavens and earth are swallowed in darkness;
the sun blotted from your vision
let the fire of your anger keep you warm, light your path.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light
destroyed by your own hands, your own gluttony.
Rage, but it is too late for your salvation.
Stewardship of the planet was in your hands.
Not guilty you say, but If you did nothing to protect it
then death stains your hands as well.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light
But your rage will fall on deaf ears
Eternity lost to you who would not bend.
As the heavens and earth are swallowed in darkness;

AFTERNOON DELIGHT

We play in the meadow
just my daughter and I.
Her laughter fills the glen
while chasing butterflies.

Amidst her golden locks
radiant glints of light
flutter joyously wild
conjuring fairy flight.

Walking home hand in hand
Just my daughter and I
as kings, queens and dragons
inflame an amber sky.

SPECIAL DAYS

I use to think about
What I could get you
For all the special occasions
Throughout the year
But I've found having someone
Close within my heart
Makes all the days special
Although we can't be together
To celebrate this time
Any day seems brighter
With thoughts of you
You bring a little sunshine
And a butterfly or two
You are the rainbow in my promises
The fire in my soul
